We had experienced a failure on the stepper motor valve acuator serial no. 128720-1-33. We would like to send you the unit for investigation and find out the root cause of failure. After completing the investigation, we may opt to request you to repair the unit or buy a new one. This actuator was installed in our gas turbine control valve to control the flow of gas into the turbine chamber.
On Monday, 11th May 2015 at 07:43 AM, our Gas Turbo Generator tripped due to a fault in its fuel gas control valve while producing 12 Mega Watts. Consequently, under-frequency protection stages 0, 1 and 2 stepped in and tripped the respective feeders automatically, disrupting power supply to Oil Storage and Export areas, Awali Township and limited parts of Bapco refinery. We are assigned to look into this incident to determine the causes of the incident and develop appropriate corrective recommendations to prevent recurrences.
